Ninth Malaysia Development Plan - Chapter 14 - Empowering Youths for the Future

Abstract

The Ninth Malaysian Plan, was prepared by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister's Department and the Finance Ministry of Malaysia with approval by the Cabinet of Malaysia. The plan allocates the national budget from 2006 to 2010 in regards to all economic sectors in Malaysia. The blueprint was announced on 31 March 2006, and was unveiled by the fifth Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in Parliament. Chapter 14 - entitled 'Empowering Youths for the Future' focusses on youth development. During the Ninth Plan period, the thrust of youth development will emphasise on empowering youths to enhance their role in society, fostering national unity and nation building. In this regard, extensive programmes will be implemented to develop youths with good leadership qualities as well as equipping them with entrepreneurial skills and knowledge. Emphasis will also be given to the development of wholesome individuals with spiritual and high moral values that can become towering personalities.
